We’ve just uploaded some of our Morocco surf holiday photos to the galleries page.

The 2010 trip was a good one. We had some big surf days, but we also had some good smaller days. Most days the surf was head high or bigger on the big days. Most years we’ve had small surf in January, so this was a bit different than normal. We managed to get everybody out back at some point in their trip, and they enjoyed the challenge! We also had a great trip out to Imsouane and got some great waves there.

We had a front row seat as usual to watch the drama’s unfolding at Anchor Point! People coming in on the rocks, coming off on the rocks, dinging their boards, getting washed up on the rocks, etc etc!

Now looking forward to France this June and September!

The surf has been small today and everyone has been able to get some good waves and enjoy and improve their surfing.

We ate out in town last night. Good fun. It’s my last pickup today, after that it’s drop-offs, and fly home. I shall miss the sun and surf, but am looking forward to seeing my wife and small 4 month old son.

Adam and Sam have slight shoulder muscle strains so are having to take some time out from surfing. Forecast is looking good for the next week; small to medium surf and hot.

My leash broke on Anchors in the morning so had to swim after my new board!!! It
bounced off the rocks (oh no!!) so had to do a couple of small ding repairs. Luckily nothing too bad. Dave and Bev, and Gavin had a good surf on Myteries after breakfast. All’s well.

It was 6ft and clean on Anchors, with moderate off-shores. There were a few people getting washed up onto the rocks trying to get in and out. The swell is forecast to drop tommorrow.
5 new people turning up tonight. Looking forward to meeting them.

The reason for this less settled weather down here and indeed the cold weather in the UK has been caused by the position of a large blocking high-pressure system over the North Atlantic and Greenland.

This has prevented the usual flow of wet and milder weather from the West and South West, and has allowed cold air to be drawn into the UK from the North and East. The air coming from over the Atlantic sea is warmer than the air coming from the lands to the East and North of the UK because the sea is warmer than the land.

These areas of high pressure can be quite difficult to move and can dominate the weather for a week or two, before eventually being bumped out of the way by continuos low-pressure systems.

It looks like the high pressure is starting to move over the UK over the next few days, keeping the UK cold, but hopefully will recede into Europe after that and allow the milder Atlantic air in.

And down here in Morocco the more unsettled weather has been caused by the same high pressure system pushing the low-pressure systems further South below the high.

The good news is that as the high pressure to the north moves east and declines, then the weather and surf here in Morocco where we are based will be much better.

The seven day surf and weather forecast is showing more settled conditions for next week, with light winds and sunshine, and with water temps around 19C there should be some lovely surf around.

Just me and Mark for a few days as our next tour arrivals have been delayed by the snow falling at all UK airports. Forecast does not look good for the rest of the week over there either. Hope people can make it out here!
