About our holiday
The surf in this region of France is world-class. Seignosse is situated on the Cote d’Argent, the longest uninterrupted stretch of sandy beach in Europe. The waves are so good that the ASP World Tour brings the world’s top surfers to compete on these beach breaks every year. Our surf camp is probably the original British surf camp in France. Our extensive knowledge of surfing in this area gives us the edge. We have found the best campsite to stay in, and provide everything you need to enjoy your camping holiday. Each guest has their own large tent and comfy airbed. And we provide a large marquee with cooking, dining and socialising facilities for all. You can use our bikes to explore the area, and our laptop to view pictures and films we take of you surfing. We also have our surf minibus to take all our guests to the best surfing spots every day, depending on the conditions.
This is a fully guided surfing holiday. Two of our UK-based professional and experienced surf coaches host you on location. They will surf with you every day and give you coaching sessions both in and out of the water to help you improve your surfing techniques. They will ensure you surf at the best time of day and tide, on the right waves to suit your ability.
We will also take trips out to eat, shop, and at least once a week we visit Biarritz or Capbreton, depending on the surfing conditions. When you are not surfing there is lots to do in the local area from eating out, cinema trips, bowling and other sports, as well as miles of golden sandy beaches and pinewood forest trails to explore, all close to our campsite. This holiday is hosted by two expert surf coaches and tour guides with a maximum of 8 guests.
This holiday runs 8th to 23rd September 2012 inclusive.

ITINERARY
Each day our surf tour guides find the best place to surf, and take you there. We teach you in a variety of ways – using video-analysis for surf coaching, as well as one-to-one coaching in and out of the surf. We maintain a relaxed, friendly and sociable atmosphere at out surf camp with the perfect balance of surfing/activites and rest time.
As surfing is weather-dependent there is no set itinerary, but we do have a pattern to each day. If the conditions are right we will have an early surf – the dawny. Then we prepare a continental breakfast with the fresh pastries and baguettes we bought that morning. There will also be fruit, cereals, coffee and British tea. There are always plenty of baguettes for lunch later too. Then we head to the beach or futher afield for a day trip to another part of the coast such as Cotes des Basques, depending on the surfing conditions. Evenings can be spent eating at the campsite or BBQ or out in one of the many great restaurants and cafes nearby. There are plenty of other sporting and relaxing activites you can do locally, and if you’d like to discover more of SW France we can advise you.
The surf camp is open 8th to 23rd September inclusive. Our holidays usually run from weekend to weekend for 7 or 14 nights, but we would be happy to accommodate you for any length of stay, so please contact us for a quote. We travel to France in September because this is the best time of year to ensure consistent, clean surf, warm water temperatures (around 22C) and typically warm sunny days.
We have advice on what to pack on your surfing holiday.
Surfing
The surf in this region of France is world-class. The ASP World Tour brings the world’s top surfers to compete on these beach breaks every year. Seignosse is situated on the Cote d’Argent, the longest uninterrupted stretch of sandy beach in Europe. Swell from the Atlantic Sea is focussed onto the Nearby Hossegor coastal area by the Gouf, a deep water canyon, making for bigger, more consistent surf. This doesn’t mean it’s big all the time. There are usually nice clean smaller waves suitable for learning and improving your surfing, that’s why we travel to France at this time of year.
There are miles and miles of top quality beach breaks to suit all abilities along this coast. September is a great time to surf this region, the summer crowds have gone home and we usually get some nice warm late-summer sunshine, good wind conditions for clean surf, and quality swell. Water temperatures are around 20-22C, and daytime temperatures have been as high as 28C.
Beginners – We will familiarise you with everything you need to know to start surfing; surfing equipment, ocean awareness and safety, and surfing techniques. As you progress we tailor our coaching to your needs and help your surfing improve.
Improvers – Our expert surf coaches have years of surfing knowledege and experience to share. Whether its learning new or complex manoeuvres, or any other aspect of surfing, we can help you progress to the next level, and excel at surfing.
OUR SURF COACHES
Our surf tour guides are fully qualified Surfing GB UK (SGB) surf coaches and SGB members, and qualified beach lifeguards.

He has been surf coaching in Newquay for the last 6 years, as well as Morocco, and SW France. Dan has extensive knowledge of the surf breaks here, and will be able to find the right waves for you and help you learn and improve. Mark has been surfing in Newquay and the abroad for the last 8 years. He is a SGB Level 1 coach with over 6 years surf coaching experience.
ACCOMMODATION
Our France surf camp is only half an hour’s drive from Biarritz airport, and 15 mins by bike to Hossegor, the fun and bustling surfing town. The campsite is set amongst tall pine trees, with a mixture of sun and shade. It has excellent facilities for our guests; such as a swimming pool with decked sunbathing area, a shop, launderette, WiFi access, stone BBQs, a large shower block with seperate bathrooms and dishwashing area, and 24-hour security. At our surf camp we provide you with a spacious tent, comfortable air bed. Plus we have a large marquee with dining and cooking facilities where everyone can eat and socialise together. From the campsite it’s only a few minutes walk to the golden sandy beaches. All you need to bring is a warm sleeping bag to enjoy your nights under the stars. You can hear the ocean from your tent, soothing you to sleep.
Activities
There is plenty to do in the local area if you are having a rest day from surfing. As well as plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants, there is a cinema and a large bowling alley in Hossegor. Also some great ice cream parlours! There is a bike hire shop near the campsite. It’s a great area for touring around by bike, as there are plenty of scenic cycle paths into Hossegor town and all around the coast and pine forests. There are weekly local markets, including one every Thursday near the campsite. There and loads more activities you can do such as horse riding, white water rafting, golf, available.
The picturesque city of Biarritz is only half an hour by car, and we usually visit it in the minibus on a surf rest day or take a trip there to surf the famous Cotes des Basques beach break. It has a great town beach, and lots of restaurants, cafes and shops to explore.
