Travel Information
Flights to South africa
We inlcude transfers to and from Port Elizabeth airport (ZA) (the airport is about 1 hour from Jeffrey’s Bay) in the price of your holiday, but flights are not included.
Flights are usually around £650 return, and many airlines fly to South Africa to choose from.
You should fly to Port Elizabeth airport, via Johannesburg O.R. Tambo airport.
To search for a flight we like to use www.skyscanner.net as it searches all flights in a month. Or try www.kayak.com. We have found that searching for the 2 flights seperately - UK to Jo’burg and then Jo’burg to Port Elizabeth, brings up the cheapest fares.
bringing your surfboard
If you are bringing your own surfboard, please check with your chosen airline if there are any extra charges. The majority of airlines carry surfboards, but charge a fee for handling a surfboard, and this fee applies both ways. Both the size and weight of the board can affect the fee.
SURF BOARD HIRE – If you would like to hire a surfboard in South Africa we can arrange this for you. Weekly surfboard hire is £35 for any size of board.
Currency
Rands and cents

Good to know – Dolphin Beach, Jeffrey’s Bay was named a Blue Flag beach in 2010/11
Important information for travellers to South Africa
Passports
Passport and visa requirements
Tourists holding passports or travel documents from the UK, Australia, New Zealand, France, Germany and the USA, are exempt from visa control if they intend to stay 90 days or less in South Africa. Please refer to the full country list here
Please note that most countries expect that you have at least 6 months validity on your passport from the date you return to the UK. If you are in doubt about your passport validity, check with the South African Embassy.
Its a good idea to take a photocopy of the back page of your passport (showing your photo and all the details) and any visa you are using, and take this with you on holiday in case your passport is lost or stolen. Having those details will help you prove your identity.
Obtaining a passport – Be aware that if you need to obtain a new passport you should allow at least 6 weeks during the summer months when the passport office can be very busy. Information about getting a passport can be found at the Identity and Passport Service (IPS) website.
Other essentials
Personal Travel Insurance – We require that you purchase travel insurance covering you for all activities you wish to undertake, including surfing, before you travel. Please note – Also the SA government requires that all tourists entering SA have medical insurance.
