Small and clean on a Bourdaines dawny

0

Had a lovely home cooked pasta last night, and today we got up early for another dawny. It was great surf for our learners with 1-2ft and clean, but a small wave period of around 6 seconds.

It’s been only us in the water at Bourdaines on these early surfs, so it has proved worthwhile to get up early as we get to catch the waves with no crowds. We expect some new swell by Thursday, with a longer wave period and bigger waves. That should suit our more experienced surfers.

The weather remains good. We’ve had sunny days and temperatures of around 24 in the day.  Much better than England, which is great to know.

Today some of our crew have gone on a day trip to San Sebastian, the closest Spanish town on this coast. Should be fun!

3ft and clean

Yesterday it was bigger surf on our stretch of beach, and all along the coast here, so we headed down to Capbreton to surf by the harbour. This is a more sheltered spot and we all got some good waves.

This morning we woke up early for a proper dawny, and we were rewarded with 3ft and super-clean glass at Bourdaines beach. Fantastic! We’ll do the same for tomorrow. We have been enjoying a day of great weather as it’s been sunny and 24 C all day. Tonight we’ll have home made pasta at the camp and chill over a few cold beers. More surf tomorrow! It’s a hard life!

Campsite ready, let’s surf!

We arrived at the Camp about 3pm on Tuesday afternoon and set up our marquee and tents. Then we headed straight for the surf. It was small, about 1-2 foot and a little onshore, but great to surf in warms seas so we had some good waves. The weather is hot and lovely; South West France is having a bit of a heatwave right now with temperatures close to 30 C by midday! Looks like cooling off at the end of the week, but only to the mid 20′s so still great temperatures! Remember, it’s only 16 C in Cornwall!

On Wednesday we had a bit of a cloudy start but it warmed up by the afternoon, and some great waves were had by all. Nathan and Helen arrived too. They’re travelling around France in September and have joined us for a week of surf and fun.

Check out the Seignosse webcam to see how great the weather and surf are!
