The almost-last part of our journey was from Bordeaux to Le Havre. This was much easier than the day before! We arrived in Le Havre at around 3pm and hoped to find a good cheap motel in the town centre. We searched high and low only to discover that Le Havre is actually quite an upmarket town, not the transit nightmare of somewhere like Dover or Folkstone. It has boutique shops and patisseries and a lovely promenade beach and town centre for shopping. This meant that the cheapest decent place we found was hotel Les Gens de Mare around 70 euros with overnight parking. This took us a long time and we were happy to chill at the hotel and get an early night. We enjoyed a picnic of salad and wine in our room with French TV in the background.
