We had an amazing trip to Storms Rivermouth on our Jeffrey’s Bay South Africa surfing holiday. We paid a visit to a very high bridge so that Dorian could try one of the highest bungee jumps in the world!! The 216m jump off the Bloukrans bridge is the highest commercial, natural, bungy jump in the world. We then took a boat ride up Storms river mouth, which everyone enjoyed.

Storms River is a tiny hamlet with shady lanes situated just north of Plettenberg Bay and on the edge of the Tsitsikamma Forest. This ancient indigenous forest is a world of giant trees, forest ferns, clear streams and brightly coloured birds. There is a short walk along the rocky shoreline to the wonderfully wobbly suspension bridge strung across the mouth of the river.

There are some great waves to be had in Jeffrey’s Bay South Africa at the amazing point breaks. We had a little rain this morning – the first of the trip. But it’s faired up now and has not spoilt the surf! We have said goodbye to a few guests today and we are now with our last two surfers – Andy and Dave. We have had an amazing time on this surfing holiday, and have loads more stories to tell! Next time it’s our trip to Storms Rivermouth!

We had an amazing time at Addo this week. As part of the Jeffrey’s Bay surfing holiday package, we take our group to the nearby Addo National Park, home to many wild animals you can get up close and personal with!

This time we had a really nice knowledgeable local to guide us through. We drove through the national park for about four hours, and saw lots of wild game. We saw zebra, elephant, warthogs, mongoose, ostriches, monkeys and many wild birds, and other large and small animals. The elephants were the most impressive; at one watering hole we saw two large male elephants having a chat a scratch and rub together. At another a herd of around twenty five elephants were visiting it, including a very small baby elephant, and some passed within a few meters of us. It was a day to remember!

If you like quiet surf breaks you’ll love surfing Jeffrey’s Bay, South Africa. Not only are there amazing surf breaks suitable for all abilities, but the breaks aren’t busy either.

One of the problems with surfing Fistral or Watergate Bay in the holidays, or any popular surf spot anywhere in the world, like Anchor Point in Morocco – they are just so busy! The shorelines are dotted with surf schools and out back you are fighting for waves with all the rest! Jeffrey’s Bay is different. We have had the breaks to ourselves most mornings. 4 has been a crowd! The locals are super-friendly too! It really is worth travelling that bit further to a spot like Jeffrey’s Bay to experience such great waves and uncrowded surf. So here we are, enjoying it!

Another beautiful sunrise here in Jeffrey’s Bay South Africa on our surfing holiday. Temperatures today of around 27C, and the surf is small and clean at the nearby beach break we have surfed today.

Another very special day here in Paradise…. err I mean…… Jeffrey’s Bay, South Africa!! The sun is shining down and the air is warm, and the waves are awesome! Head high and smaller waves breaking all down the points, with Supertubes looking fantastic! Have we found paradise?

Today we welcome Jo, Suzy, Dorian, Sam and Dave, all here for what we hope to make their surf trip of a lifetime!

It’s been great waves here so far. With waves around 1-3ft at the beach break we are surfing, our surfers are getting some great waves and learning loads! The point has also delivered some fantastic waves for learning and improving your surfing. The waves at point are peeling for 100m plus! That means plenty of time to practise riding the face, turning your board, and other more complex manoeuvres. You can have fun on these waves whatever your ability – check out this surfer performing a ‘floater’ on top of the wave.

Temperatures are staying warm too – around 20C and are predicted to rise near to 30C again by next week! New bigger swell is expected for the weekend and then dropping back down to smaller waves again for next week. Great!

Dan and Mark, our super surf-coaches and surf holiday tour guides have landed safely in South Africa for the start of their 3 week surf holiday. The are heading for Jeffrey’s Bay and have one more plane to catch today from Johannesburg to Port Elizabeth, on the Eastern Cape. They should arrive about tea-time to a warm and sunny Jeffrey’s Bay, with temperatures of around 22C and some nice clean swell to surf!! Monday in Jeffrey’s Bay is looking like a scorcher with temperatures expected to reach 30C! Wow! Our surf camp is based in a beautiful guest house located in Jeffrey’s Bay, Eastern Cape, South Africa. Also known as J-Bay, it is situated at the end of the famous Garden Route; the scenic stretch of coast from Heidelberg to the Storms River.

J-Bay is around an hour’s drive from Port Elizabeth airport, and the surf here really is world-famous….. These South African waves became legendary amongst the surfing community as the home of the ‘perfect wave’ by the film Endless Summer. The film follows 2 surfers travelling the world in search of the perfect wave. After a long search they find it in South Africa at Cape St Francis, near to Jeffrey’s Bay. In the second film they return to South Africa and find Jeffrey’s Bay, which surpasses the waves of the first film!
